UK Shing Hing Lion
Lion Dance Workshop
- Sat 31 May 2025 11:00

Join us at Broadway Gallery to learn about Lion Dancing, a traditional form of Chinese folk art form where performers, dressed in elaborate lion costumes mimic the movements of a lion to bring good luck and prosperity. It’s often performed during Chinese New Year and other significant festivals and events. The dance typically involves rhythmic drumming, and the use of martial arts inspired movements. The workshop will be delivered by UK Shing Hing Lion and will include a presentation and dance practice.
The workshop and performance have been organised by the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, the Garden City Collection, part of the Uncovering Letchworth project funded by National Lottery Dynamic Collections Fund and in partnership with the Letchworth Festival. The workshop has been curated from conversations with the local community who would like to celebrate and share their heritage with the wider Letchworth community.
This event is FREE, but donations are very welcome.
