Family Arts
Get creative at one of our workshops at the Family Arts Studio at the Broadway Gallery.
Join us on the second Saturday of the month for fun-filled family workshops led by local artists.
We recommend these sessions for 3-10 year olds and kindly ask parents and guardians to supervise their children at all times.
For more information on the individual sessions, please call the gallery at 01462 476110.
Tickets: Pay What You Can
We want all families to be able to access our Family Arts workshops. To make this happen, we have 'Pay What You Can' tickets which range from £0-12 per child. You can book as many free tickets as you need; we do not have a limit. If you can afford to purchase a ticket today, please do, as you'll be helping keep Family Arts open to all.
Support for SEN Families
If you have a child with special educational needs, we offer a range of support during the sessions, including:
- Friendly Family Learning Volunteers available to help
- Sensory Bags with a range of fidget toys, cuddly toys, sunglasses and ear defenders (available at our welcome desk or ask a volunteer)
- Support finding a quiet space, just ask our staff or volunteers
You can find out more about accessibility at Broadway Gallery under the 'Your Visit' section of our website.
Family Arts is brought to you by the team at Broadway Gallery, part of the charitable giving service of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book in advance?
We strongly recommend booking in advance to secure your place, as sessions can fill up quickly. We close the bookings 24 hours before the event start time to give out team time to prepare. However, if on the day spaces are available, we may accept walk-ins.
When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets are released on the 1st of the month before each Family Arts session. As the workshops happen every month, we release tickets one month at a time rather than all at once. This helps keep sessions full and gives more families the chance to take part. Follow us on Eventbrite for notifications
How does "Pay What You Can" work?
Tickets range from £0-£12 per child, and you can choose the amount that feels right for your family. There is no limit on free tickets, and all children receive the same experience regardless of ticket price. If you’re able to pay, your contribution helps keep the workshops accessible for everyone.
Do adults need a ticket?
No, tickets are only required for children. Accompanying adults attend for free. We ask all adults to stay with their children throughout the session.
What should we wear?
We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting messy, as some activities involve paint or other materials. All art materials are provided.
How long do the workshops last?
Each Family Arts session lasts approximately 1 Hour. You’re welcome to take breaks or leave early if needed.
Where do the workshops take place?
Family Arts workshops typically take place in our Studio on Level Two at Broadway Gallery. Signage and staff will help guide you on arrival. Occasionally, part or all of the session may take place elsewhere, including our Gallery. Staff will support you on the day if this is the case.
Does the gallery have a lift?
The gallery is fully accessible. To reach the Studio, either take the stairs or the lift from Ground Floor to Level One, then the next lift to Level Two. All lifts are push-and-hold. For assistance, ring the bell on the Ground Floor to call a staff member.
Where can I leave my pram?
Prams can be brought into the workshop Studio or left on Level One in our welcome area. Please do not leave prams on the ground floor, as this is a fire escape and not always visible to staff.
What are the workshops like?
With different artists each month, each workshop is unique. Our artists may plan their session around their own art style, our current exhibitions or something that has inspired them recently. We try to create a warm and friendly atmosphere all session, helping to make it quality family time.
