A free summer programme of arts activities for families to enjoy together
This August, Broadway Gallery invites families across Letchworth to play, discover and share in a vibrant, three-week celebration of creativity.
Play! Discover! Share! is a free, inclusive summer programme designed for children, young people and their families to explore the arts, try something new, and spend meaningful time together. From hands-on workshops to comfortable spaces to chat and connect, the Gallery will be transformed into a welcoming space for creative expression, exploration and fun.
Whether you're painting, building, storytelling or simply enjoying the space, there’s something for everyone – with activities for all ages and abilities. Each morning will offer creative sessions especially for under-11s, while afternoons will include relaxed, creative activities tailored for secondary school–aged young people and SEN families.
Many sessions have been shaped by young people themselves, ensuring this is a programme built with and for the Letchworth community.
The Gallery will be open from 10am to 5pm, Wednesday to Saturday, between 6th and 23rd August, and admission is completely free.
Below you'll find the daily breakdown of sessions. Booking is essential for any activities marked "bookable." Please use the Book Now links below for each session to reserve your place.
Week Three
Wednesday 20 August
2:45 – 3:45pm
Lounge Time (11–16 years)
Take the time to sit back in our lounge area. A space specifically designed for and with young people, with free Wi-Fi and snacks. A chance to relax and chat with friends.

Drop-in Boardgames
Casual boardgame play for all ages.
Thursday 21 August
9:30 – 10:30am
Coffee and Catch Up
A chance to sit back and catch up with fellow parents over a free cuppa, whilst the children enjoy our toys and self-led activities. Citizens Advice will also be on hand with some handy tips or for an informal chat.
2:45 – 3:45pm
Creative Writing (families with SEN)
A quiet time to enjoy our relaxed gallery space whilst trying some fun, creative writing exercises.

Drop-in Colouring
Relaxed, self-led creative time throughout the day.
Friday 22 August
9:30 – 10:30am
Teddy Bear’s Picnic (pre-school)
Come and join Bella Bear for an interactive picnic story adventure in our indoor garden. Cuddly toys welcome!

Boardgame Bonanza (4–10 years)
Come along and enjoy a relaxed opportunity to play boardgames with your friends. Enjoy our selection of games, or bring your favourite to share.

Everyone is welcome at Play! Discover! Share! We have created an SEN-friendly space so visitors can enjoy their time in a way that feels comfortable and accessible.
Our facilities include:
- Sensory bags available to borrow during your visit
- Dedicated quiet times for calmer play and reduced sensory stimulation
- A calm, quiet area to relax and recharge
